Postdoc at the Cancer Research UK Beatson Institute @CRUK_BI. Bushell lab, translational control in the tumour micro-environment. all opinions my own

Fantastic work led by the Norman lab, demonstrating the mechanism how translational repression via eIF4A2 is required for pro-translational reprogramming of hepatocytes, driving ECM deposition and tumour niche initiation. @CRUK_BI

Thrilled for the opportunity to present our work at the helicase conference. We will show what RNA sequence features allow mRNAs to recruit specific eIF4A1 functions to promote their translation. More in session 5 .#HNASRC

Methods paper from our lab afters years of hard work doing these extractions over and over again. If you're stuck on extracting healthy RNA from tissue samples, we might have some suggestions for you. Who doesn't love a nice sucrose gradient...if it works.
🆕 Preprint by the Bushell lab on @biorxivpreprint describes a method for extracting high quality RNA from primary mouse tissue, focusing on RNA integrity in the context of global translational status. https://t.co/aYZByHvGmX

Next: we got an email today from @HM_Passport reporting that our documents were returned on the 23/4 How come that none of the four people from the customer service last week knew about this? Also, no tracking code of course. Very glad such sensitive docs are handled by experts.

that our withdrawal note was processed 11 days ago but passports weren't sent yet. 4 h later 5th call to find out that no new passport was approved and the old ones are still not send.

As we still haven't received the passports, the 4th call and 4th person this morning said that apparently now the new passport was surprisingly approved for print. 20 mins later we received an email referring to a communication from a day before, which never happened,

Who made these rules? The letter was sent the next day. Again, the next 2 weeks, there is no communication. 3rd call to find out that they received the letter a day after we sent it but wasn't processed until 12 days later.

Very clever rule, isn't it? So they said they're sending it back. That was the first misinformation in that story. After another week of nothing we called again to find out that we have to request in letter form the withdrawal of an application that can't be processed.

To change my british-dutch wife's name on her passport we had to send @HM_Passport her British and (of course) also her Dutch passport. After 4 weeks without info we called to find out the application was on hold because the name on her Dutch passport has to match the new one.

TLDR: @HM_Passport is not able to provide reliable information, train their staff properly, not sending 'promptly' documents or working according to their timelines and basically keeps a Dutch citizen hostage in this country.
