A twitter archive of historical shared spaces. Discoveries from Scottish tenements, & beyond. If you've a pic, do send it on over. (Curated by
@ZanPhee
)
When Glaswegians talk about a “close” it’s the common entry to a tenement flat and in the 1800s onwards they made them so beautiful- I lived up a close like this and tile work was stunning
Just a massive thank you to all those who have followed, liked, shared & messaged over 2023. It has been a tough year personally, but the project has been a constant push to get out & photograph these rarely seen details.
Here’s to 2024!
So for those interested, who may have missed our
@STVNews
segment, here’s it is:
Thank you to those who sent lovely messages… I’ve chosen to ignore the not so lovely ones.
Today marks 5yrs since this little project began. Was hoping we’d have the exhibition, to mark this. Sadly, as with all celebrations in lockdown, plans change.
To help celebrate with me, please share your favourite tenement find, tile tweet, or article. Let’s share the love!
This tiled map was uncovered somewhere in Glasgows city center, by a friend working on a renovation.
I’m hoping to get in & see them in person.

It appears our lovely friends
@LostGlasgow
&
@PastGlasgow
have had a run in with the content harvesting account, Glasgow Memories, on FB.
Thinking of the hours of research that goes into each post, taking it without credit, is theft.
We stand with those that do the work!
The cat is out of the bag!
After 2yrs in storage, our exhibition will finally see the gaslights of
@TenementHouse11
!
Thanks again to
@GlasgowHeritage
for funding the exhibition.
So it’s 4yrs since I started this archive & met all you lovely tile fans! I do hope we can continue this for a good while longer. Thank you for sticking with me!
#MyTwitterAnniversary
Bad news according to Loop and Scoop the tiles at the Queens Cafe were “too damaged”- yes these tiles . Are they under there or are they not , perhaps someone can ask when getting their Churros my enquiries were not welcomed.
Recently found at Mikaku Glasgow during basement reservations. The owner plans to incorporate the discovery into the new space.
The map appears to have been created for Glasgow publishers, R. Gibson & Sons by The Nautilus Porcelain co, during the early 1900s.
Dear tile fans,
Would you like a book of select images from our archive? If it were to happen, it would be a limited run, so just looking to check interest. Give this tweet a like to let me know.
Thank you.

Just want to shout out our wee Instagram page… officially 4 yrs old!
With just over 3k followers over that time, it’s nice to see our community grow.

The 4th visit to this
#Clydebank
tenement, & still no luck getting in. Tempted to slide our socials under the door, & ask if a resident could help us gain access… or maybe put an ad in the
@clydebankpost
?
The window was tarnished but made the close look dreamy.
Due to personal issues, TnmntTiles had to take a bit of a back seat this year. So, I just want to thank anyone who helped support the project in 2022. From RTs, shoutouts & tags, to those who were patient & worked around my timetable, thank you.
I wish you all a wonderful 2023!
Good morning,
An apology to anyone who I’ve not responded to recently. Again my health has taken a turn. I’m hoping to get back to content collection, & engaging with you all soon.
Thank you for all your continued support, tags, shares & messages.
Discovered another pretty popular Instagram account (33K followers) has been using our images, edited with a filter, and without credit. I work pretty hard collecting content, and I’m very happy to share… just credit the photographer!

Do you think Santa lives here?
New limited edition print now available at

So it’s looking like the majority of original details have now been lost to the
#LoopAndScoop
redesign.
After much concern raised by the locals, it’s pretty sad to see.
Wee update:
Inline with government guidelines, I’ve had to limit travelling around to collect images for our accounts for almost a year now. Just so you know, although new content maybe sparse, I am working away on some bits behind the scenes.
Be considerate & stay safe. TT.
5yrs on, & we’re unexpectedly on the move again. Will be a little distracted by the real world, but will attempt to monitor our pages as best as I can, & reply to any messages.
Thank you for your understanding & support, folks. Yer smashing.
So we’ve officially hit over 10k follows, across our 3 platforms… This is a crazy benchmark for such a small project. I want to thank you all, as it couldn’t have happened without this community ongoing encouragement, contributions, and engagement.
Thank you so very much,
TT.
