Huge thanks to @remap_cap for being a champion for patient and public involvement and engagement in #criticalcare.
Keeping patients, their families and the public engaged is a strength of REMAP-CAP. ๐ต๐ฐ The Pakistani Patient & Public Involvement & Engagement group's 2024 summit gained national news coverage and presented networking opportunities. ๐ #10YearsREMAPCAP

A compelling opinion piece shared by my friend and colleague @bharathkumartv: "To make global health truly participatory,ย the worldโs health institutions must adopt a radical approach to listening to everyday people".

Great to end my day reading messages of hope from leading individuals working on health #equity - A field which can often seem like a long list of issues that haven't been solved.
For @sciam's solutions to health equity package, we asked a handful of experts what is giving them hope for health equity . Here's what @paimadhu @seyeabimbola @RRHDr @BarneyGrahamMD @DrAlethaMaybank & Wafaa El-Sadr had to say

Great to see UK regulators creating guidance to support the design of more inclusive trials! The challenge will be in the uptake, particularly by those who don't already consider diversity. Will contribute to this consultation with @drarishay & encourage others to do the same.
The UK's Health Research Authority (HRA) plus Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) have just launched a consultation on plans for Inclusion and Diversity Plans to be part of approvals submissions. See Consultation closes 9/12/2024

Strengths, weaknesses and applicability of the PRECIS-2 tools in low and middle-income countries. Through a systemic review and 20 focus groups, we've looked at their relevance in South Asia. Lots of lessons learned that we hope will inform PRECIS-3 @FrancesShiely

Who are we missing from pragmatic ICU trials?. Analysing data from Pakistan (@PRICE_critcare) and Nepal (@NepICRF) we showed that older patients with comorbidities from poorer and more rural geographical areas are not represented adequately in our critical care trials

What does being a pragmatic trial mean in South Asia?. We evaluated 3 international trials (@remap_cap @MegaROXtrial RECOVERY). Absent post-discharge follow up and poor physician and public understanding of trials constrained their incorporation into usual care

Attended the first ECHO learning platform for trialists organised by @CANTAPTALENT . A clear informative talk by @lmbuagbaw on pilot & feasibility studies. This interesting @PLOSONE article came up when discussing how such studies may prevent research waste - Worth a read
