I essentially left Twitter (now X) Nov 2022. Blue Sky just launched and may be the new home for wide-reaching civilized conversations. I hope the people I follow and my followers will join me there. @TimaBansal.bsky.social.
I can no longer in good conscience support twitter. I am pausing all reading and posting until further notice.

Elon Musk is among the many "unelected tech leaders" who are calling for AI and GPT-4 to pause for 6 months. Is it really about managing risks, or an opportunity to catch up in the AI arms race? @emollick @xriskology @timnitGebru @dairinstitute @FLIxrisk.

Chouinard's donation of 98% of #Patagonia to a charity and divesting the controling shares to a trust is similar to foundation-owned firms in Scandinavia. These firms are profitable, resilient, and contribute to society. @SteenThom @iveybusiness @NBSnet.

Chouinard's donation of #Patagonia ensures that his legacy is protected and can contribute to a better society and planet to perpetuity. Research from Scandinavian firms with similar structures shows that these firms are highly successful. @iveybusiness.

Yves Chouinard's donation of @Patagonia to a trust is big and bold. Hopefully, other #billionaires will see the opportunity to keep their business going for perpetuity, while contributing the profits to social causes. What an amazing legacy!.
"I think it's one of the most exciting moves that's happened in corporate governance in North America for a very long time." . @CBCAfternoonDr interviewed Ivey's @TimaBansal about the founder of @Patagonia's decision to give it to a trust to help fund climate change action.

It was a treat to be interviewed for a Portuguese economics journal. I advocated for corporate systems-based innovation, which is needed for business to become sustainable. @InnovationNrth @Sys_innovation @iveybusiness.

Yesterday, I was given an honorary doctorate from @HEC_Montreal at the University of Montreal. The honour was not just for me, but the importance that HEC places on the role of business on #sustainabledevelopment. Thank you, HEC. .@iveybusiness.

There is hypocrisy in billionaires, like Warren Buffett, doing harm through his business and yet claiming to do good through his personal donations. Such thinking is outdated. via @forbes. @NBSnet @iveybusiness.

#WarrenBuffett seems to use his personal #donations to fix the harm created by his business investments. This type of thinking is archaic. As corp's gain more power, they need to recognize their impact on society and environment. . @iveybusiness.

Research isn’t only a solo activity in a lab or on a computer. It is also discursive, which fosters understanding and discovery. I appreciate how this argument highlights the importance of interpretation and discussion in science. @garimasharma11 #science.
Science advances through talk, especially in conversations between a researcher who has run into an anomaly they can’t explain & a researcher in another field who wouldn’t have known the issue, but when they find out, have solutions. Universities are matchmakers for problems.
