Our Special Issue on Imaging Cell Architecture and Dynamics is now complete. You can explore our ToC here: https://t.co/qYGgHoGFLz ‘Breaking symmetry’ from @AntaraC9 was the winning image from our cover competition with @focalplane_jcs. The image is a MEF labelled with phalloidin

*Note to reviewers of our next grants/papers. This is a joke; we are excellent scientists who plan very well and never need luck as our experiments are perfectly designed and always work, and we never mess up an imaging session and go home to bed early.

Obligatory Aurora pictures. Just like microscopy, you need a bit of planning and a lot of luck, and you'll always worry that going to bed early means you're missing the best bit.

I want to share the amazing resource that came out of this great collaboration - https://t.co/rUJg8Dq6u5 - a place to learn what you need to learn to do great quantitative microscopy, and where to learn it. Please check it out and let us know what you think, and/or contribute!
A fantastic group of authors, spearheaded by the amazing @SenftRebecca and @bdiazrohrer , have a new preprint for your end-of-year-reading lists! In the 🧵, learn a bit more about "A biologist's guide to the field of quantitative bioimaging" 1/x https://t.co/Jgwrgz2zAt

Very cool and needs a careful read. An interesting key point is that "Abundance of Myosin-II is a good predictor of cortical tension but is not sufficient to determine tension at cell-cell contacts."

The project uses genetics/microcopy/cell biology to investigate how cell identity may play a role in contributing to successful cell division. It is part of the NLD BBSRC DTP, so there is the opportunity for collaboration with colleagues in Newcastle and professional internships
