If you normally receive the TYOV newsletter please let me know if you -don't- receive one today. For the second time the Shopify newsletter system has given me an outrageously atypical undeliverable report and I am curious if the report itself is trustworthy.

But when you realize that most violence in our culture is not committed by strangers (hence police violence being such a large %), you see why it's vital for cops to obscure it: no one believes more $$ for punishment bureaucracy is a solution to the reasons people **in some kind

"Write what you know" was good advice for novelists when most of them had been drafted, or hitchhiked across the country with drug-addled degenerates, or worked as a migrant rancher. It’s bad advice for people who mostly just know how to turn in homework assignments.

Every city Trump is targeting is an economic hub upon which this country depends to survive. That's where the money they're spending on ICE comes from They are depending on us to keep handing them sacks of cash while meekly submitting to authoritarian rule, and we can simply not

“If we don’t measure food insecurity, no one’s hungry” “If we delete research on right-wing violence, there’s no right-wing violence” “If we don’t release inflation data, there’s no inflation” “If we stop Covid testing, we’ll have fewer cases” You see what’s happening, right?

If I quoted Charlie Kirk’s words about George Floyd and changed the name to Charlie Kirk, I would be banned from Twitter.

The contents of Epstein's birthday book — even beyond Trump’s own message — are grotesque, appalling, and paint the picture of a sexual deviant surrounded by close friends who knew exactly what he was into. And yes, Trump is mentioned by others in the book as well — and it gets

Again, a House Academic is not the same thing as any academic holding a minority opinion. The latter group, however, if they are honest, will openly admit to the minority-status of their view. The House Academic, by contrast, makes his bread and butter by presenting uneducated

If you don't want to be compared to the Gestapo, one neat trick is to not engage in a campaign of terror around the country wherein you kidnap people to slave dungeons in accommodation of an autocratic fascist and his nationalist movement's desire for racial purity.

I went to the Senate floor to tell a story about Trump’s first 100 days - a story of daily, norm shattering corruption. I laid out 40 different corrupt acts - each one alone could have taken down previous presidents. 1/ A 🧵 of my speech. People need to know this story.

I grow panicky at the memory and just gave myself extremely icky feelings at the idea of young me trying to take the sweater off while in that space. (Like, the idea of it makes my feet stomp on the floor unbidden.)

As I slide backwards my sweater would stick to the mud/stalact/mites and slip upward and make me thicker, then I'd have to slide forward to unjam myself. At points I had to walk myself backwards with my shoulders while I held my sweater down with my hands.

In my teens I slide on my belly through a wide but low area of cave, over twenty feet in length. The ceiling was so low that I would feel the tiny stalactites pushing into my back when I breathed in all the way. I made it to the end only to have to back out.

Walk down any street in California for more than a couple minutes and you will come upon a sign warning you that a product or just an *area* "contains chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer." 1/
