Hard to believe that these two slugs are both over 250 days old. Size is not an indicator of age for the black keeled slug

NEW RECORD slug weight!!! This is a lab reared black keeled slug coming in at over 7 grams! This species in the field usually only gets between 1.6 and 2.8 grams. Amazing the potential of some animals when optimal conditions are provided.

Half a slug and a lot of slime, these flatworms weren’t messing around! This species of flatworm has been seen feeding on millipedes and slaters too.

From one extreme to another. This little guy (next to the oat) is a 1.4mg baby brown field slug. Almost missed it in the field! @GRDCSouth @PestFactsSARDI #sluglife

I'm fortunate to be exactly where I'm with a supportive team Week 2 of field sampling with ##goodbugs #precious_wasps present. Are we using the right sampling tools to answer these and many other agroecology questions? When in doubt, monitor the #insects. #beneficials

Predators are out and about in some regions despite the dry start.
@ThomasHeddle1 Yes! I found predators: lacewings and ladybird beetles on this radish 🐞 Didn’t see any parasitoids or aphid mummies but I will go back and check in a few days.

And just like that, another of the PhD papers is out! If you’re interested in how 🐄 dung pH influences dung 🪲 reproduction this might be worth a read https://t.co/3TCDR2HDGn

The presence of dung beetles made cattle dung more alkaline after 96 hours. Dung beetles were able to reproduce in cattle dung with a pH of 5.0, though in fewer numbers compared to other pH treatme...

As if 80mm in past 3 days isn't enough, the radar shows a stream of thunderstorms trundling their way down the Yorke Pen. I only had 90mm during all of Winter! Coupled with 37mm Nov 28th, the soil profile is filling up. My soil moisture probe Stacked graph shows infiltration to
