Valuable news for Parkinson’s!
A single strain of bacteria has been identified as the likely culprit behind the majority of Parkinson’s cases. These Desulfovibrio bacteria live in the gut and can be detected and removed, which may prevent the disease. https://t.co/hDwitArEKF

Excellent point @ChrisPalmerMD Minor changes =major positive results
Small changes to prison food or vitamins/supplements can reduce prisoner violence. Counterargument: "Why should we give them good food? They deserve what they are getting." Financial argument: "Because we are spending a lot more money to medicate them and manage the violence."

Well said @ChrisPalmerMD nutrition’s greatest strengths is the seemingly unimportant minutia.
The biggest problem with most nutrition research is that it assumes food is only about calories, macros, or nutrients. It ignores the other factors and biological pathways that play a role in metabolism, appetite, weight, etc. Complex problems require a comprehensive approach.

Remission and recovery from bipolar disorder is possible. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
There were years when our son was so unwell with Bipolar I that we couldn't go on a family vacation. There were times he was so sedated from medications he would not leave his room. It's been a miracle to see him in true form again for more than 2 years. #KetoForMentalHealth

Mental Illness and mitochondrial dysfunction taking treatment to a new level.
Thanks to @MichelleSt48315 and the @EpochTimes for this great article on the metabolic and mitochondrial theory of mental illness! https://t.co/UkMWjUEacK

The value of hydrotherapy is underrated. Constitutional hydrotherapy is valuable in mental health treatments in naturopathic medicine. It involves carefully timed hot and cold water treatment with mild sine wave strategically placed to bring equilibrium to the nervous system.
Back in the old days, psychiatric patients were often placed into ice baths as a treatment. Many people have dismissed this practice as cruelty to patients. Maybe there was something to it after all.

As NDs we look at the body as a whole, we understand that the brain’s metabolism is essential to its ability to function optimally. Thank you, @ChrisPalmerMD for spotlighting the science behind it.
neural activity is 'entangled' with metabolism Many scientists have assumed that the production of energy is irrelevant to brain function. It just happens when needed. What if metabolism plays a more important role? https://t.co/9KE1ZmO2UD

Thank you, @ChrisPalmerMD for underscoring the absurdity of feeding those in poor health ridiculously unhealthy products.
Ensure is often "prescribed" to people in poor health. Who on earth thinks 30 gm of added sugar is a recipe for improving health?

Yes, @ChrisPalmerMD no doubt it is effective!!
People with mental and/or metabolic disorders need *comprehensive* treatment plans: Diet/nutrition, exercise, sleep, medication management (including appropriate discontinuation/deprescription), therapy, substance use, hormonal assessments, etc. Complex? Yes Doable? Yes

Amen. I few seconds of initial discomfort leads to a lifetime of health benefits! Don’t be afraid of the cold!
Being 'cold' is invigorating whether via a cold shower, cold plunge or cold weather. However, cold exposure enhances your health and well-being. A Few Benefits: -Improved Brain Health -Increase in Metabolic Rate -Strengthened Immunity -Reduced Inflammation -Longer Telomeres

The AGEs (advanced glycation end products) age you. Consider this the next time you reach for a sugar laced snack.
As we grow older, sugar-derived bonds, or crosslinks, are formed between the proteins that make up our tissues, making tissues more stiff. Stiffer tissue is less capable of performing its function than soft, supple tissue, especially in blood vessels, the lungs and the skin.

Is your magnesium replete?
Magnesium is Crucial to Optimal Health. One superior form of magnesium is Magnesium Malate, for several reasons, one being that malate is also an important substrate for the Krebs cycle (cellular energy production and biosynthesis) and also the most bio-available. #magnesium

Increase B12 with adequate protein consumption daily especially meat and fish =decrease major marker of inflammation, homocysteine. #Metabolic
#metabolic "problems" can result from different causes. One easy test is homocysteine, which is a biomarker of one-carbon metabolism. Sometimes, simple fixes, like addressing B12 deficiency, can solve the problem. #Schizophrenia

Daily I map patient’s genes to find out what foods are therapeutic and what foods are not for them. Steak may be your superfood, but your partner’s kryptonite.
Food is the #foundation to optimal health. We either turn genes on or turn genes off with the foods we eat. Mitochondria are key to optimal health. Harm to them occurs when we eat a diet high in refined oils/sugars/processed junk foods etc. #optimalhealth #inflammation
