Why is there a "little USA" in Germany?

On Sunday evening, June 16, at 8:45 PM, I was biking towards the city center of 's-Hertogenbosch 🇳🇱 I found myself behind an inline skater who turned the city into his playground... every evening, as he later told me.

St Jacobshof (1930) in 's-Hertogenbosch 🇳🇱is a dense social housing community-centric haven. Featuring 44 apartments around a tranquil car-free courtyard, plus 11 terraced houses and 4 street-facing apartments. Walk/bike to local shops, parks, and cultural sites within 5 minutes.

It is awesome to see a design I helped with getting put down on the ground! This takes a step in shifting the paradigm towards a Safe System. This has calming elements as well as a two-way separated bike path (though will be black asphalt). Hopefully there will be more to come!

Can you imagine this scenic bike path through the dunes of Westduinpark in The Hague 🇳🇱 has existed for over 100 years? Only during WWII, as part of the Atlantikwall, was it unusable. This proves to me that investing in quality cycling infrastructure pays off for generations.
