This very lightweight c. 1890s ‘waist’ was likely intended for sport. It was made from a single layer of flexible cotton twill, with a gentle silhouette that allows for a wider range of movement than the traditional everyday corsetry of the community. https://t.co/O8t9lWZMrw

Would you believe this sheer nylon bra is from the 1940s? Nylon bras made from marquisette, taffeta, and powernet were on sale in 1941 and 1942, before being withdrawn to conserve supplies of the fibre for use in the war effort. https://t.co/QvcncXH6SJ
