Yay!
Game On Again! After a long stint of northward field, this last solar storm is showing some teeth! Because this one is so fast, even small dips into southward field will drive strong #aurora! Likely not as strong as yesterday, but views deep into mid-latitudes are likely tonight!

βοΈ See the jumps! The CME from the X5.1 flare has arrived β but itβs just getting started! Bz is northward for now, so things are calmβ¦ for the moment. Hang tight β the best may be yet to come! π Keep watch with @Vincent_Ledvina @SpaceWeather @TamithaSkov. Good luck & clear

π As we wait for the next CME β and maybe more aurora action β hereβs a look at whatβs racing toward Earth! β‘οΈ This eruption and CME blasted out with yesterdayβs X5.2 flare, complete with a powerful shock and particles hitting the cameras. Fingers crossed π€ and skies clear! π

π₯ Boom! Sunspot AR4274 just unleashed an X1.8 solar flare around 17:30 UTC β one of the most enormous bursts of energy the Sun can throw! π₯ Its magnetic field has become complex, and material has blasted into space. Could more be on the way? πβ‘οΈ Stay tuned

πβ¨ The Carruthers Geocorona Observatory is now deployed! It will study the very edge of Earthβs atmosphere β the geocorona β to see how it leaks into space & changes with solar activity. Named for space imaging pioneer George Carruthers. Watch LIVE π: https://t.co/7bl17eEIGt

IMAP is a solar wind scout. Sits at L1, million miles closer to the Sun, watching streams of particles rush toward Earth. By measuring their speed, density, and direction, IMAP helps scientists predict space weather that could disrupt satellites, power grids, & astronautsβ safety
