🌨️🚂 As mentioned last night, we ran patrol locomotives through the night between Aberdeen and Inverness/Dundee and Inverness-Kingussie on the Highland Main Line to keep tracks clear of drifting snow. Pleased to report that all lines remain open this morning.

🌨️ 🚂 Welcome to Wick! Our snowplough has reached the end of the Far North Line. It's now heading back to Inverness, clearing the opposite side of the two-track sections at stations and loops, before we reopen the line. We'll keep you updated on progress. @transcotland @ScotRail

12:00 update from Scotland’s Railway. 1/3 Work to clear snowdrifts from the railway across the north and north-east is going to continue into this afternoon, with exceptionally severe conditions being experienced, and continued heavy snowfall limiting the progress of our ploughs

🌨️🚂 An update from the Kyle of Lochalsh line, where our team reports that the snow is too deep to continue safely at Achnasheen. There's a railway under all that snow... We're working on a plan to reopen the route, and we'll share a further update ASAP. @transcotland @ScotRail
