Don’t tell me that reducing class size won’t help student learning. Tell me you don’t want to pay for it. Tell me you don’t have the space. Tell me you don’t have the teachers. But don’t gaslight me. There’s a reason private schools cap class size. Every teacher knows it.

My school is on there!! Proud of the *many* MVA kids who participated today, including several Ss who talked to me about why they chose to participate.

A single basic idea changed the way one #MfAProud teacher would teach for the rest of her career. Now, she’s using that idea to positively impact others. Find out what it is here: https://t.co/2cLktB88or

Amazing how fast the government can ensure every child will have a standardized test to take this spring with no delivery issues expected, but couldn’t support states and cities with adequate COVID testing capacity, vaccines, and tech/internet for all kids who need it.

For America’s educators, this is a great day: You’re going to have one of your own in the White House, and Jill is going to make a great First Lady.

Teaching remotely has reinforced my belief that internet should be a public utility. Lack of access to proper wifi/internet should not be a reason my students fall behind.

In the past week, I’ve introduced several people to @desmos AB. The JOY on their faces and in their texts as they realize how magnificent it is ... 😁🥰

Let’s say these 2000 teachers get an assignment/program by Friday (which seems unlikely). They then have one weekend to prepare to start teaching on Monday??

After de Blasio announced today he will add 2,000 teachers to NYC schools ahead of the first day on Monday, the principals union said schools need about 10K teachers: "The city and DOE clearly have no comprehensive plan to fully staff our schools.”

So sure, I’ll “volunteer” to do triple the work because I want my kids to have the support they need. @MOREcaucusUFT @UFT #nycdoe #uft

Yep. How easily they manipulate Ts b/c we care about our kids. I haven’t been paired with a virtual T, I haven’t seen any lessons created by the “content specialists” that @NYCSchools is supposedly hiring. I do not trust that will be beneficial for my Ss.

NYC teachers - what is your school's plan for students during teachers' 30-minute "virtual collaboration" time in the morning? Where do Ss go between arrival and classes starting? Who is supervising them? #nycdoe #uft #nycschools @MOREcaucusUFT

not sure if most people realize that in many NYC schools even “in-person schooling” actually just means remote learning on school grounds. has this been made clear to parents and students who are risking their safety to come in? @MOREcaucusUFT

The top scholars, who fill the city's most prestigious public high schools, are mostly opting to stay home and learn remotely, not trusting plans to keep them safe from coronavirus.

I totally get that it’s different and that many parents have math anxiety already, which makes it even harder when they can’t understand their kid’s work. But like, trust us on this one. We’re really trying to help develop the conceptual understanding you missed out on!!

Many parents say the single biggest challenge of distance learning is the math topics taught through Common Core, a standardized teaching method rolled out in 2010

As a longtime proponent of outdoor learning, "I would never have imagined receiving Mayor Bill de Blasio’s outdoor learning plan with such bitterness," writes @lynnshon, a middle school science teacher in Brooklyn.

PSA: If you’re upset(rightly- it’s upsetting!) that schools may not be able to open in Sept., turn your attn to the people w/ actual power to fund schools, empower stakeholders and set policy— @NYCMayor @NYGovCuomo got us here, not teachers & principals demanding basic safety.
