The first sentence: "When Australians at their Bakelite radios heard of Chinaโ€™s victory over Japan in 1945, they knew this was the triumph of an ally." This never happened. There was no triumph of China over Japan. When Australians did tune into their Bakelites to hear

My Granddad parachuted into France to end fascism in Europe. He told me they would come back one day because people were extremely naive and stupid. He was right. We will have to fight them again only this time on our own soil. Its not patriotism its fascism.

Australia should consider itself fortunate to have such courageous leaders of community who also happen to be world-class cricketers in @Uz_Khawaja & @patcummins30. Two men who are prepared to speak up on their beliefs & stick their necks out to make the world a better place

So the government plans to exempt solar and wind projects from our environmental laws and superannuation financial performance tests ... all while providing them billions in taxpayer support. If renewables were are so cheap, why do they need such special treatment?

Nothing to see here. Just a bunch of farmers making a bonfire out of the official information packs describing how their land is needed for renewable energy transmission infrastructure.

Frustrated farmers in a tiny Wimmera town have set fire to information packs from the Victorian government, in a show of defiance. Their reaction, stressing a โ€œhard noโ€ to plans for massive renewable energy transmission lines through their land. #9News

@TheHypocrisyCh1 Russia and Canada cut off their sources of cheap Energy. Sprinkle some nuclear waste on your breakfast to show me how safe it is. That is why they have to bury it deep underground at great cost.

This is the story of how a fund chaired by former Labor PM Julia Gillard acquired a wind farm project just six days before Labor Energy Minister Chris Bowen underwrote its future revenues with taxpayer money. Today we've learned Julia's fund is trying to flip it. For a profit.

Ok, so the cost of VNI West has just... MORE THAN DOUBLED! $3.6bn was from a draft @AEMO_Energy estimate from May, two months ago. Now $7.6bn. AEMO is also the same company building this project. Their direct subsidiary is the proponent. They have no excuses. 1/

The cost of producing electricity from wind and solar at the point of production (when it is producing) is cheap (LCOE). But everything required to take it where it is needed and to supply reliability (storage or gas) is very expensive (LFSCOE).

@napost13 @Peter_Fitz You do understand that CSIROs GenCost model uses levelized cost of energy over their lifetime to arrive at its conclusions? As an economist with modelling skills, I support that it represents a comprehensive and accurate depiction of sector pricing.
