As utterly delusional as this position is, I understand it. He's terrified, and so he should be. The Canada he has known will not last the next two decades no matter how this plays out. Pretending that's not true is deeply emotionally appealing.
Horse pucky. Modern conservatism should continue to adapt the fusion of Hayekian liberalism and Burkian conservatism to the modern age. It must not reject both in favour of blood and soil nationalism. Or worse, angry and reactionary populism.
