The lead author of this paper (@houqian_li) is going on the academic job market this year. If I were a chemical engineering or chemistry department looking for a new faculty member in catalysis, sustainability or plastic recycling I would definitely try to hire @houqianli.

Hi, everyone. We are the @WalkerGroupCuse , and we use HPLC in our research. *crowd in smokey room replies* "Hi, Walker group!" This week @SyracuseBmce , we are on Step 1 - we admit that we are powerless over our instruments; and that probably only a miracle can fix them🤣

Having recently moved to @SyracuseU, I made a guide to help my Upstate NY colleagues understand Midwest transplants like myself. @midwestern_ope did I cover all the bases?

Follow my student-led group account, now live @WalkerGroupCuse! Group website and introductions to our inaugural class of PhD candidates and undergraduate researchers coming soon! :))
The Walker Lab at @SyracuseU and @SyracuseBmce is live! We design novel materials for renewable resource conversion; and study the fundamental, scientific details underlying their catalytic properties. Follow our student-led account for updates and sneak-peaks at ongoing projects

As far as I'm concerned, this will never ever stop being funny. 😂

I'll just leave this here. From the NYT: With End of Affirmative Action, a Push for a New Tool: Adversity Scores

To build a diverse class of students, the medical school at U.C. Davis ranks applicants by the disadvantages they have faced. Can it work nationally?

You can't regulate schools out of doing what's right if they're committed and sincere in their intentions. Current admission policy declared unconstitutional? Fine. Prioritize recruiting from diverse backgrounds across MANY dimensions. Racial diversity should follow organically

*Last* week in the Walker Lab: old friends, new friends, great food and core memories for kiddos @NAM28NACS. Oh, and AMAZING science! One of my favorite things about catalysis is how it resides at the interface of so many different disciples, and this dynamic was on rich display!

This week in the Walker Lab: A journey of a thousand papers begins with a single synthesis. Congratulations to @mosesdavid631 for creating the maiden active material out of our new group in @SyracuseBmce (a WO3/SiO2 catalyst). Thank you for all your hard work! @EngineeringSU

This week in the Walker Lab: Agilent GC/MSD system with tandem Frontier Microreactor install! This high-throughput catalyst screening system for pyrolysis research will enable us to assess the deoxygenation performance of novel active materials we will synthesize in-house.

It's no surprise to his students, who've voted him the department's Outstanding Faculty the last several years, but Joe Chada has received the Distinguished Teaching Award from UCSB's Academic Senate for excellence in teaching . https://t.co/Nw2duAWJ82

Electocatalysis for near quantitative oxidation of biomass-derived moieties into poly-carboxylic acid precursors. Promising, but SLOW (24 hr rxn). If only there were a way to debottleneck these processes while maintaining selectivity to desired products… hmmm 😉
This week's covers features the article "Heterogeneous Interface Catalysts with Electron Local Exchange toward Highly Selective Oxidation of Biomass Platform Compounds". Read the full article here ➡️ https://t.co/oA5n2yi6Pm
