. provide a space for them to sit & work respectfully & responsibly, or to tell them they're not wanted. @JohnLewisRetail chose the latter. I _am_ a regular paying customer of @JohnLewisRetail & seeing them treat hardworking, respectful kids this way has turned me off a bit.

. & frankly the behaviours they're displaying should be encouraged. They might not be adding their £2.60 ish to JL's coffers, but they are potential JL customers of the future & at this formative stage in their lives @JohnLewisRetail has the choice to be welcoming & happily. .

. understand that JL are a business BUT the cafe is also almost empty: these kids are NOT taking up seats that would otherwise be available for paying customers. The additional cost that they're causing JL just by sitting & working is not measurable on any reasonable scale. .

I'm in the @JohnLewisRetail cafe in Milton Keynes. It's practically empty, but at the table to my right are three kids in school uniform, on laptops, revising. They're being totally respectful. A JL employee has just told them they need to buy something or go. Now, I. .
