Most of the trainees are being paid by PI CIHR grant in Canada. However, in the two latest competition awarded grant were cut by 23% across board. This makes it incredibly difficult to do the research and be able to increase the stipend for the trainee.

Scholarships for graduate trainees went up in the last budget and it is time!! But without a significant increase in operating funding there is gonna be an important gap between trainees. We all recognize it is essential to increase stipend for trainees but funding need to match.
