Yr 5&6 children @GayhurstE8 study history topic: The Romans while we prepare their art activity with beeswax. Thanks @LondonHoneyCo What could their art project bee? A tablet of sorts, two or three. We’re buzzing with excitement to explain... A mark on the surface will remain.
THANKYOU @LondonHoneyCo for the sweet surprise in our parcel this morning! We received 1kg of beeswax along with a handsome Fortnum honey bear. Hello sir! He’ll be watching over our creative endeavours with molten wax as we develop ideas for a new art project @GayhurstE8 #roman

Happy to say yr 5&6 exhibition 'Guilds of Benin' @GayhurstE8 has been extended for a further 2 wks. It's now open until Friday 20th March, 3.30 - 4pm daily. Fantastic arguments written by pupils re: their thoughts on restitution

Yr 5&6 @GayhurstE8 exhibition 'Guilds of Benin': The ancient Kingdom of #Benin was of grand design using the rule of symmetry. In the centre, the royal palace. Broad streets radiated out leading to organised districts protected by large city walls at approx 16,000 km in length

Yr 5&6 @GayhurstE8 exhibition 'Guilds of Benin' is open until 6.Mar. Making plaster costume masks helped children understand the process of mold to cast. The #lostwax process was used to make the #bronze plaques and sculptures for which The Kingdom of #Benin is known.

Yr 5&6 @GayhurstE8 opened 'Guilds of Benin' 30.Jan. Written arguments by pupils discuss if the bronzes looted by the British in 1897 should be returned. @thestandardarts also published a piece on @HornimanMuseum's proposed public consultation re: future of their Benin collection.

This Thurs, Yr 5&6 @GayhurstE8 open their new exhibition 'Guilds of Benin' based on history topic Kingdom of #Benin. #Coral was seen to have magical powers & worn only by the Oba (King) & his royal court. Class 6S made coral beads from plaster... Visit the exhibition to see more.

This water tank we excavated on London's Giltspur St in the 90s may have been for storing fresh oysters! 🦪 Lined with a remarkable range of re-used 17th and 18th century ‘delftware’ wall tiles, it allowed us to create a catalogue of tile designs for future research! #DigsGoneBy
