Reflecting on his work with Andrew, Co-AD Daniel Evans said: 'I was thrilled when Andrew agreed to play Duncan in Macbeth at the Crucible in Sheffield. Alongside his unending passion for Shakespeare and acting the quality I’ll most remember him for is his utter decency.'

Through his performances with the English Shakespeare Company in the innovative work of Michael Bogdanov & his work at the RSC he brilliantly brought to life Shakespeare’s characters for audiences. He was a unique figure whose teaching at Mountview was seen as legendary by all.

We were saddened to hear about the recent death of Andrew Jarvis, an award-winning Shakespearean actor who inspired many over the years, especially those in their early careers. Andrew performed with the RSC in the 1980s, in 30 productions over 10 years.

We are deeply saddened to hear of the death of playwright Tom Stoppard, whose play Travesties was first staged by the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1974 and which went on to transfer to New York in 1975 where it won a Tony Award for Best Play.

We welcomed Ian McKellen and Judi Dench to The Other Place where they performed in Trevor Nunn’s 1976 production of Macbeth and nearly 50 years later, they were joined by our current cast Sam Heughan and Lia Williams, for an intimate celebration of Shakespeare, and craft.
