Fighting to empower + protect the rights of poor/unhoused tenants across LA šø Started by @DSA_LosAngeles & @LACANetwork š¹āļø #ServicesNotSweeps
Los Angeles, CA
Joined April 2019
LA City Council says that sweeps are not happening, that they are not throwing away unhoused people's personal property, that these are just "service days.". We know that this is far from the truth. #HomesNotZones #ServicesNotSweeps

We need restorative justice initiatives that focus on family reunification in rehabilitation programs, investment in reentry processes, and paid entrepreneurial programs.

Donāt let the poor-hating politicians fool you when they say āwe donāt criminalize homelessness.ā.
We found that 38% of all LAPD arrests/cites were of unhoused people. Nearly every infraction was for an unhoused person. Crimes like drinking in public, violating park rules, littering, jay walking, sex work. So much of policing is devoted to this and is completely unhelpful.
