This year’s Homeless Count results show that collaboration and innovation reduce unsheltered homelessness. Inside Safe and Pathway Home, brought over 6300 people inside. We must recommit to keep this momentum going through the collaboration that has already helped so many people.

With a 4% drop in homelessness & unsheltered homelessness down 9.5%, this year’s Homeless Count is trending downward in Los Angeles County. While this trend is encouraging, challenges remain. Continued focus on collaboration, prevention, & housing is required for more progress.

Shelter does more for clients than simply provide safety and a warm place to sleep. It helps people remember that they matter and are cared for. That reminder can be enough to keep someone going from one day to the next until they are placed in a permanent home.

Everyone deserves housing—regardless of background, race, or gender. There is no room for discrimination in the work we do at LAHSA, and we’re proud to see that standard upheld by our partners. You can see that commitment in action through Christina’s story.

A heart to help is something so many smaller agencies have—but many lack the funding. That’s why LAHSA awarded grants to Small Agencies and Faith-Based Organizations: with a little support, they can create big change. Congratulations to our second winner, Maymuna 13 Corporation!

Every year, LAHSA leads the nation’s largest unsheltered count. Delayed to Feb due to the 2025 LA Fires, this year’s count showed our resolve. Moving from paper to app made it smoother—but our mission remains: to end homelessness with dignity, data, and real change.

On June 13, LA opened its largest 100% supportive housing site! 600 San Pedro has 302 furnished units for people moving from interim to permanent housing, plus on-site support. A big step toward bringing more Angelenos home!.

Exciting news: The Azalea of South Park, a new 31-unit permanent housing site in LA funded by Prop HHH, is now open and fully leased! As we house more people, we keep asking: what’s keeping more people from being housed? We won't stop until every Angeleno has a home.

It’s the success stories—that’s what keeps Laurice, a Countywide Matcher here at LAHSA, committed to this work. Her personal drive comes from being ready and able to help whenever her favorite uncle, who is currently unhoused, reaches out. Thank you, Laurice, for all you do!

On May 27, Supervisor Mitchell hosted a recognition breakfast for 65 outreach members, including those from LAHSA HET and HOST, who supported the recent Pathway Home operation on Redondo Beach Blvd. Grateful for our outreach team’s dedication to bringing neighbors indoors in SD2!

The 2024 Homeless Count results proved that change is happening—unsheltered homelessness is down 10% in the City and 5.1% in the County, with additional decreases anticipated from the 2025 Count. We remain committed to prioritizing shelter and support for our unhoused neighbors.
