A lit fest right at the heart of the community, inspired by Stoke Newington's radical, rabble-rousing & literary history. 5-7 June 2026
Stoke Newington, London
Joined March 2010
A year after Stoke Newington Library closed its doors for a proposed refurb, does anyone know where we are with that? Seems eerily quiet. @hackneygazette @hackneycouncil @hackneylibs @hackneycitizen.

We’ve decided to give @bluesky a whirl. Friendlier, fewer knobheads, at least for now. Come and find us and let us know what you’d like to see at next year’s festival (6-8 June).

In a previous life I did a photo shoot with Geoff Capes and a giant cigarette (weirdly, as part of a no-smoking campaign). We had a long chat about his budgerigars, of which he was inordinately fond. Lovely man. Love to his family & friends.
Geoff Capes, British shot put record holder and two-time world's strongest man, has died aged 75. In 1976, Tonight spent some time with him as he prepared for the Olympics lifting tonnes of weights, consuming countless calories and breeding budgies.

One of the best things about festival programming is meeting fascinating new people. Today’s absolute treat was talking to @SSteinLubrano - a huge talent - about her fascinating forthcoming book Don’t Talk About Politics: How to Change 21st Century Minds. @BloomsburyBooks.

Just unsubscribed from the @Waterstones mailing list for their choice of Boris Johnson’s memoir as non-fiction book of the week. At the very least nominate it in the right category.
