Niettemin, het kijken waard, vooral vanwege de vintage @FransBromet interviewstijl en vanwege de idealistische Groningse wietkwekers John en Ines, die - zo lijkt het - helaas uiteindelijk ook geslachtofferd worden door het grote geld. /7

Het is niet gezegd dat de voor- en nadelen van legalisering in het buitenland zich direct naar Nederland vertalen. Immers, we kennen een heel ander uitgangspunt. Juist daarom is het verstandig om te experimenteren. Dat dit lang duurt is jammer, maar enigszins onvermijdelijk. /6

Maar de documentaire heeft weinig oog voor de risico’s van legalisering en van risicovol gebruik, die de VS ook laten zien met haar uiterst commerciële cannabismarkt. In vergelijking met alcohol of tabak zijn die misschien beperkt, maar ze mogen niet worden genegeerd. /5

Bromet heeft namelijk vooral aandacht voor de rol van cannabisondernemers, waaronder coffeeshophouders en telers, die hun zaken graag legitiem willen regelen. Vanuit dat opzicht zijn Canada en VS inderdaad lichtende voorbeelden, want daar is heel geld verdiend. /4

Bromet geeft de kijker duidelijk zijn mening mee (even geparafraseerd): “waarom een traag en bureaucratisch experiment, als het buitenland laat zien dat cannabis gewoon gelegaliseerd kan worden.” Dat is wat te simplistisch als je het mij vraagt. /3

Het schetst o.a. een catch-22 situatie waarin de overheid moet wachten met de start van het experiment tot er voldoende aanbod is, terwijl de telers met hun enorme investeringen willen wachten op zekerheid. /2
