Busting stigma: One ignorant fool at a time.
Joined September 2023
I have Bipolar Disorder. I've also had two very successful careers & helped raise an amazing son. I'm financially secure, not a criminal & have a great group of friends. I'm fitter than Garson could ever be & am a better person to boot. You may be a victim. I'm not, wanker.
Everyone I hear from says the same thing: the stampede to embrace mental illness diagnoses goes hand-in-hand with “victim culture”, a mindset that applauds inability over ability: “I can’t do it because of my condition/trauma/society.” And I ask in all seriousness: what happened?

My Psychiatric diagnosis led me to discover more about myself & my mind than ever before. It literally sparked my quest for self-knowledge. This is not uncommon.
Psychiatry is the enemy of self-knowledge. Any attempt to understand the roots of my suffering - rather than settle for “symptom management” - must be mocked, belittled, dismissed as pseudoscience. Their inability to heal is now worn as a badge of pride.

Garson particularly dislikes it when people are healthy & happy with their care. It's disturbing to me that a person like that is listened to by anyone.

This pathetic toss-rag accused me of having a 'victim identity' because I have the word Bipolar in my pinned post. Meanwhile, the very first line of their profile...

Oh, & Keegan, you know full well that you were one of those bullies that forced #BipolarClub off Twitter. Lying, deceitful little pissant.
Only, I haven't. 🤷♂️ I'm a lot of things, but at least I'm not a misleading , pissant little prick.

& I'm not sure that a guy (with a mediocre podcast & 2000 followers on twitter*) who just had a whinge about being left out of something is in any position to call me a narcissist. (*more than me, but I'm not the one having a sook)

I wonder if McLovin understands the words 'hypocritical dipshit"?

Personally, I'd avoid joining a panel that included a rapist. I guess @coopercdavis & @LauraDelano feel differently.
It's not a "Path to Mental Health" when you are platforming a rapist 🤢 (who apparently does MAHA Zoom shirtless from a 🛁)

The claim: "Most bipolar symptoms are caused by SSRI’s" The evidence:
@StigmaB47868 @DrAnnieHickox @gar_mcguigan @LauraDelano I have the feeling that no evidence would convince you, so I’m not going to waste my time finding a source for you. Your mind is already made up.

It's worth noting that Laura has (as far as I can tell) specifically avoided engaging with anyone critical of her opinions here on Twitter. I'm glad that she considered @awaisaftab worthy of her time. It's a pity that she has such obvious disdain for anyone who lives with SMI.
In this polarizing era, there is nothing more powerful than building meaningful friendships/collaborations with people with whom you disagree (and who disagree with you). @awaisaftab it was so lovely to finally meet in person—looking forward to doing it again soon! ☺️☺️☺️

@Phuxlea @MarkayH96075 @PattesSouris @LauraDelano As a person who lives with MI, I find it fascinating to have to debate what is harmful or not to us with people who don't.

Well done anti-psychs. Well done.
@LauraDelano There was once a thriving, supportive group of people living with Bipolar Disorder here. Then came the bullying, stigmatisation, insults & harm from your piece of shit 'community'. I'm the only one left. They had to protect themselves. Your 'stigma is great!' bullshit...

Fucking disgusting anti-psych bullshit. Abso-fucking-lutely disgusting.
These industry-funded “anti-stigma” campaigns train millions of people to see their emotional pain and struggle as signs of incurable “illnesses” needing lifelong “treatment”— and further, that they should be loud and proud about taking pharmaceutical products for life.

Of course, this "research" is conveniently ommitted. I wonder if he's read the ample research into the dangers of untreated psychosis, or even with delays in treatment. Garson is a dangerous hack who is spreading bullshit. His followers are like a cult.
Research shows that the message “your mental health problems are symptoms of brain disorders” actively harms patients. It strips away agency and hope. So, do psychiatrists not know this? Do they think the benefits outweigh the harms? Or do they know, but feel they have no choice?

Help me out here... Are you still considered a "Philosopher" if you've presented exactly zero unique thought for years? Rinse & repeat. It's getting a little difficult to critisise him, he's just kinda pathetic at this point. Sad, really.
In the 80s, psychiatrists sought to give patients tools to manage their thoughts and emotions so they could live full, independent lives. Today, they cultivate dependence on drugs, making patients even more helpless, passive, and fragile.
