joining @sesame as head of design today!. when I first met @brendaniribe a few months ago, his vision for sesame and his way of talking about design and craft inspired me. felt the same when i met @natemitchell. couldn’t be more excited to build with this amazing team.
At Sesame, we believe in a future where computers are lifelike. Today we are unveiling an early glimpse of our expressive voice technology, highlighting our focus on lifelike interactions and our vision for all-day wearable voice companions.

Wrapping up a fun week with the entire @sesame team in Skamania, WA. Never felt so at home on a team. Spent a lot of time talking about building great products, learned a lot about what goes into great hardware, shared some of my early designs, and spent a lot of time outdoors.

oh boy, Sony finally made the fixed-lens full-frame RX1R III. i absolutely loved the first version. huge price increase to $5k, going up against leica Q3 now
the 11 year old Sony RX1R really was a perfect camera. i wish there was a modern version. solid metal body, tiny, full-frame, fun clicky aperture ring on the fixed f/2 lens . sure it had slow auto-focus and horrid battery life but really was something.

@sesame @brendaniribe @natemitchell wrapping up my first week at @sesame. i got some slick hardware demos too. such an amazing collection of people working on shipping magic. i missed working with people in an office. but the most exciting thing for me is how much everyone truly cares about craft.

found a working palm pixi on eBay to add my vintage gadget collection
people forget how influential Palm webOS was. lots of modern iOS uses similar patterns. palm was basically the OpenAI of their time. such talent density that Steve Jobs had to threaten them to stop poaching. • horizontal app card multitasking w/ flick up to quit.• edge swipe

my favorite related insight from 10+ years ago was when Facebook had their own custom loader. when they used the custom loader, people blamed Facebook for the slowness. when they used the system spinner, people assumed their phone/ios was the issue.
Look at these 2 UIs. One of them will 100% outperform the other for one reason:. The Doherty Threshold. Here's how this psychological principle works & how to use it in your products:
