We need another 15 stations and $5 docking fees.
It’s 1 PM on a Thursday and there are no working bikes at the @bikeshare station on Park Road. #ColumbiaHeightsDC bike usage is way up, which is a great thing! But that means we need more bikes, loaded more regularly and/or new bike station locations added.

You can hire violence prevention, you can have a zillion cops, but the main thing here is that people committed this crime.because they knew they could get away via car. Streets without cars or limited car use prevents this violence and death.

JUST IN: 21 year-old UMass Amherst student & Congressional intern Eric Tarpinian-Jachym murdered in Northwest DC shooting. Police do not believe he was the intended target.

No docking fees for low-income @bikeshare riders leads to needing to return all of these to a station that is 1/2/3 blocks away. It’s selfish and needs to stop.

The answer to any question like this is an ass-ton of housing, 50 sq ft shops, and pedestrian only streets that turn into block long parks.

Pools should be open May 15 - Sept 15 and we should have another ten of them.
In dc the pools only open weekdays starting June 23rdish. They open Memorial Day but only on Saturday and Sunday. I think if you asked dc pool goers if they would pay a small fee to open full time for that month you would see similar prioritization of availability > free.

Bus was great after everyone left! and quick. Not the dedicated bus lane that was promised, but good enough for a sunday at 4pm to Silver Spring.

Two lessons: 1) people still care for other people, even users and people looking crazy. 2) another instance of someone making public transit crazy when they don't pay. Too expensive to have cops at every bus station to confirm payment, but clearly need roving teams.

what she really meant was: "I thought you were ODing and wanted to wake you up. I was scared for you." But, because the OD woman got crazy after getting hit, it turned into a yelling match. OD woman just wanted to sleep.

Interesting experience on D6X (??16th street bus??) tonight. Woman boarded w/o paying, clearly on something. Sat in a seat, put her head down and frankly looked like she OD'ed. Another woman (standing) rained down blows on her back and yelled: "no sleeping on the bus." 🧵.
