We received a report that residents are being called with a pre-recorded message stating that City Hall is calling with a questionnaire regarding health cards.
The City does not conduct such calls and they should not be trusted. Anyone suspecting fraud should contact police.

Rescued animals are finding a summer sanctuary at Happy Rolph’s Animal Farm.
For the first time, the City of St. Catharines has worked with several sanctuaries to house rescues, including Teddy the horse, two pot-bellied pigs and five roosters.

1/2 - The City of St. Catharines has a new deputy fire chief. Andrea DeJong has joined the St. Catharines Fire Services team, coming to the City after more than 5 years with Windsor Fire and Rescue Service, where she held a similar role.
The City’s new downtown automated washroom facility was lowered into place yesterday, and work is underway to commission it.
The washroom is being installed adjacent to the parkette where Queenston, Geneva, Niagara and St. Paul streets meet.
Flags at City facilities have been lowered to half mast in memory of Gerry Saxton, a firefighter with St. Catharines Fire Services. Gerry was in his 18th year of serving our community as a firefighter and also was very active in the community.

The City of St. Catharines is nearing the end of a 4-year streetlight conversion project, swapping 14,791 traditional high-pressure sodium fixtures with LED fixtures. Once completed, energy consumption will be reduced by over 60 per cent and savings will exceed $1 million a year

We will be winding down our mass vaccination clinic at the Seymour-Hannah arena in mid-August. A smaller vaccination clinic will be opened at the St. Catharines hospital to continue vaccinating those who still need their first or second dose. Learn more:

Our investment in LED street lights has paid off with brighter roads and improved energy consumption. In 2017 energy savings totaled $726,000 and maintenance savings were over $398,000. Project started Nov 2015 and wrapped up May 2018, seven months early.
