Just in case you - like us - underestimated the problem associated with hemodynamic occlusion in widefield GCaMP imaging. This is the magnitude of “activity” in a GFP mouse. Data from @BeckyJordan321 1/4

Eye tracking with @DeepLabCut while imaging under the @neurolabware microscope. Merely 2 hrs training on GeForce RTX 2080 Ti. Only 19 labeled images. Robust under whisker occlusion. Next on Jetson Xavier with DLC Live. In the meantime, happy Pi day!

Nice article. As an author, allow me to give the following feedback to editors regarding discussions: if you reject a manuscript on the second round of review after inviting a revision after the first round of review, then you at least owe them a phone call to explain.
We wrote an editorial on the ins and outs of talking to editors based in part on your input! As is often the case, this topic has much more than can fit into one editorial, so let's use this as a place to begin a longer, more nuanced conversation!!

Yes! These ARE the GCaMPs you're looking for. Much faster, much better SNR, bright, no signs of toxicity (relative to current GCaMPs; we have not looked carefully yet). It's DEFINITELY worth upgrading your imaging from GCaMP6 or jGCaMP7 (or X-CaMP). Great collaboration!
We are happy to release pre-publication the new jGCaMP8 series of Calcium indicators in led by Yan Zhang and Loren Looger (@LoogerL)! The key advantage of these sensors is their fast kinetics (2-4x faster rise kinetics, up to 4x faster decay kinetics than jGCaMP7f)

The #NobelPrize committee couldn't reach Paul Milgrom to share the news that he won, so his fellow winner and neighbor Robert Wilson knocked on his door in the middle of the night.

We are looking for a PhD student to study neurobiological mechanisms of deep-brain stimulation and compulsive behavior in basal ganglia-cortex networks using in vivo electrophysiology and calcium imaging in freely-moving rodents. Come join us in beautiful Amsterdam! Please RT!

Good News! #SocialDistancing seems to be working!!
BREAKING: Coronvirus Outbreak. One week after Italy's national lockdown (8 days after the north), Italy has three days with same number of new cases. This means 5 days after lockdown cases leveled off, consistent with typical incubation period of 3-5 days. This is good news.

I am excited that our review together by George Mashour, Jean-Pierre Changeux and Stanislas Dehaene came out today. The review addresses new insights in the global neuronal workspace (GNW) hypothesis. We review the neuronal correlates of ignition,.. 1/2

Cows make milk. They milk themselves. Other cows check the milk (for free). Cows - get this - PAY THE FARMER to take the milk away. Then the farmer (you won't believe this, honestly) sells the milk *back to the cows.* #academicpublishing

The brain represents multiple future outcomes simultaneously and in parallel. Cool new work by @DeepMindAI, with single-unit recordings from mice confirming the predictions coming from AI side.

Brains are amazing. Our lab demonstrates that single human layer 2/3 neurons can compute the XOR operation. Never seen before in any neuron in any other species. Out now in @sciencemagazine. Congrats Albert, Tim @mattlark @YiotaPoirazi & CO

I wrote this up and posted. https://t.co/VPTADcbB1Y In some sense it is trivial, yet it is important. If you are using fluorescent reporters (GCAMP, dLight,....) and relating to behavioral events or neural activity, please read it and comment
