In the heart of Dublin’s Liberties, young people are growing up without the sporting facilities they deserve. In this condensed version of Pat Kenny’s Newstalk interview, we hear directly from the community — parents, coaches, and kids — who are calling for change. ✊

Yesterday we heard the voices of local kids that do not have any sporting pitches to play on or a community centre for summer camps and other activities. Thank you to Catherine Mc Sweeney for organising this non-political community event.

Sporting pitches are not the only amenities lacking in Dublin 8; young residents have been without access to a community centre on Donore Avenue for 3 years. Today, June 24th, at 6:30 PM, several community groups will gather outside the Community Centre to show their support.

An interesting proposal was made a couple of years ago by ‘The Green Schoolyards America’ association which has successfully campaigned for the transformation of tarmac school grounds into green areas. Imagine the impact of a similar act in Ireland! 🇮🇪 https://t.co/j2VIiOuO3q

Over the last couple of months, we've made strides in advocating for green areas for the 8,500 kids in Dublin 8 who lack proper sports facilities. But Dublin 8 can't wait - kids need sporting pitches now, not years from now
