Lessons from history. In 1981 I was elected to GLC with Ken Livingstone. We cut fares, invested in housing & public services, increased wages & finished Thames Barrier to protect London from climate change. Thatcher abolished us. If Trump comes for Mamdani we should join uproar.

Can assure Clive I'm one MP who has no desire to be associated with Mamdani at all. The politics that appeals to NYC would go down like a cup of cold sick in US Rust Belt states or in UK equivalents like North Durham.
To those MPs trying to lay claim to Mamdani’s victory: he’s a democratic socialist - not a mouthpiece for corporations & billionaires. If he were in the Lab party & hadn’t been expelled/suspended or hounded out - he’d almost certainly be in @mainstreamlbr Help us rebuild

Deeply saddened to hear the news of Ming Campbell’s passing. I served with him in parliament for many years, enjoyed his friendship, & admired his decency, dignity & personal resilience. He was a significant son of Scotland & our public life is much the poorer for his passing.

John @spellar has been an extraordinary friend of Australia for decades, as a long term MP in the House of Commons, as a Minister, in the House of Lords and as the UK Trade Envoy to Australia. He has been an enormous help to successive Australian High Commissioners in London.
