My childhood best friend (who isn’t on here) flew in like a force of nature to get me from inpatient on Thursday to chemo on Friday to a plane to STL right now so that I can start radiation as soon as possible. She’s the best person I know and I’m sure glad she’s on MY side!!

Yes, even after my 3-day hospital stay for a stroke/brain metastasis I am getting chemo today. The worried look isn’t just facial paralysis but I’m confident I won’t have the same thing happen as last week! Send me further BAMF points anytime!

(To clarify, I actually am stunned by how well this came out given that it’s not filtered, I’ve been in hospital for 2 days with no shower, makeup, or fresh clothes and that the right side of my face is numb. But the overall point about cancer in the media stands.)

Second hospital day with a month of hair growth, new brain metastases, and a crooked smile from facial paralysis from a freakin’ stroke (but I’m telling people it’s from a knife fight). Cancer isn’t always pink or cute or curable. But I want it visible anyway.

Actually though, I always felt this show was our own example of the MOST camp and gory and sexy Jacobean plays…it’s what Ford, Webster, etc. would have done if they had TV. Also there was an entire season about the Eucharist controversy in the vampire church.

I just realized that these are basically the exact dates I was in graduate school. Does that mean this show In some way characterizes my experience? I kind of think so actually.

You know what’s an excellently dumb show to rewatch while stuck in the hospital? True Blood. Thank you, 2008-2014.

Shoutout to this fine example of Dads and the pets they say they don’t want / won’t accept on their lap / claim not to want to cuddle. (And a reminder that I miss Percy every single day.)

Six weeks off treatment means the cancer is currently winning. Let’s hope this new chemo changes that!

Happy one-year anniversary to my mastectomy and reconstruction! Cancer is still bloody hard every day but this turned out beautifully and made me feel much better about my body again.

Couldn’t agree more! At least for breast cancer, stage 4 (metastatic) disease kills the most patients by far but gets less than 5% of research funding. #StageIVNeedsMore Check out @metavivor if you want to donate to research.
@LibbyMbc To me, the most important cancer research is metastatic disease: everything else is just window dressing.

I don’t care how obviously fake Bruce the shark is this would have absolutely terrified me at any age.

My distraction activity, which I do when I feel my worst and need comfort, is rewatching Gilmore Girls. I’m only 5 episodes into S1 if you want to join me. I will happily start a group chat about it! Doesn’t matter if you’ve seen it already or not.

Comedic fact: while waiting for the chance to start new treatment the old chemo cleared my system and my hair started growing back…including my real eyebrows, which are FAR less stylish than my eyebrow tattoos. Looks like I might end up doing some waxing. 😆
