Pleased that @thetimes has printed this letter from @DalgetySusan and me. We hope the board of @CreativeScots will now follow the lead of its counterpart at the National Library of Scotland, and treat seriously what has happened to @MsPollyClark.

Happy World Book Day🩶 Here’s Afterlife: New and Selected Poems, my retrospective spanning 25 years of poetry. Thank you @IndexCensorship for highlighting the attempt to suppress my work due to my very ordinary beliefs about biological sex. Books & their authors must be free

"The reviewer considers the poems deeply, bringing to them a similar sort of attention to the poet’s own in creating them. As she writes about them, she discovers what she thinks of them. In publishing the review she gives the poem back to the poet, seen, heard, remembered,
I wrote about Gutter, @MsPollyClark , my Afghan women poets, and why poetry reviewing happens. Link in next tweet.

Polly is our sister and the nonsense of cancelling women for knowing basic biology continues. Please give @MsPollyClark a follow and check out her substack! Women need to know we have each other’s backs.
This is about what happened to me in the days leading up to publication of my 25 year poetry retrospective Afterlife: New and Selected Poems. Please read and share. Link follows.

“I found myself, in the space of a single email, moving from a position of recognition — Book of the Month, an enthusiastic review — to an unspecified concern about me as a person, communicated to my publisher, and used to justify the withdrawal of support for the book.”

If transactivists can't stop you writing a book (even one that has nothing to do with gender identity ideology), they will try to stop people finding out how good that book is. So many different ways to deny women opportunity.

Ah, leadership at last! "Pluralism comes from embracing viewpoint diversity, not punishing it." Absolutely! Thank you @IndexCensorship!
Disappointing to see Gutter Magazine remove a previously published review due to the unrelated personal views of the author, @MsPollyClark. Pluralism comes from embracing viewpoint diversity not punishing it. More here:

Many of you now know the story of @MsPollyClark & the disappearing review. To that end, yours truly & @LorenzoFrom are going to use our 10K+ subscribers to promote Afterlife. We both have some appreciation of poetry, I’ve had translations published, & the late Les Murray was a

Is good to see @IndexCensorship supporting @MsPollyClark. The number of people who support free expression/ political pluralism *except for women who speak about sex-based rights* remains a bleak sign of anti-feminist times

Please Repost 🌿 An influential Scottish literary magazine has removed their 'Book of the Month' review for Polly Clark's poetry collection Afterlife, and all simply due to the sensible views she holds on what a woman is. Let's stand with her. Support & Follow @MsPollyClark

If being a "cooperative that includes trans members" is incompatible with a) meeting equalities duties, b) being judges of literary merit, and c) publishing reviews praising women, then you've a serious problem, Gutter Magazine. And not one Creative Scotland should be funding.

We were appalled to learn about @MsPollyClark 's experience about the cancellation of the positive review of her poetry book, Afterlife from Gutter magazine because of her lawfully expressed opinions. We stand shoulder to shoulder with Polly. Poetry just be judged on its merits.
