WHY THE FK DO YOU HAVE TO DOWNLOAD A MILLION LITTLE JAR FILES TO BUILD AN ANDROID APP???? EVEN JS PEOPLE DO BETTER THAN THIS!!!!
HOLY SHIT!! NATIVE DEV IS SUCH A JOKE
@ThePrimeagen
it's been sooo long and copilot is the only ai I can use for more than 10 minutes without getting frustrated. I tried all kinds of promoting but still feel I am faster without the ai than with it. I am not even slightly convinced it can replace me lol
@ThePrimeagen
If this is in application code I don't think this complexity is worth it but it's often necessary in libraries for good autocomplete suggestions
lol 🤣 so making your own programming language is harder than I thought. the features I consider table stakes are super hard to build like
- nice errors
- a good LSP
etc
@typecraft_dev
It doesn't really matter. You can make any distro work like any other distro if you try hard enough
nix is different but also doesn't really matter for most home users 🤷♂️
anyway I use arch btw and that definitely is the best distro
I only used to get Elon's tweets on my timeline and now I only see
@htmx_org
tweets freaking everywhere and if I somehow dodge them and view other tweets you just appear in the replies WTF
Okay all of you SHUT UP!
- no! This isn't gql
- yes I am sending a 200 status code
- yes! I know it's wrong
- this is NOT a user facing API
- This is a web hook response and it has to be a 200 response!
- the message is for logging purposes for me!

Okay let me explain this:
- commutative just means that 1 + 2 is the same as 2 + 1
- in c when you do arr[n] it adds n to the location of arr in memory and dereferences it ( gets the value at that location )
- soo arr[n] = n[arr] ( commutative. )
Obv over simplified 🙃
@DanielW_Kiwi
Let me try again
- take any value
- wrap it in a new type with a run method ( or bind or >>= or map or whatever ) which takes a transformation function that takes the value and returnz a new wrapped value
That's it that new type is a monad
Ex: Promises in js, Options I'm rust.
WHY ARE PEOPLE SOOO INCLINED TO MAKE SOMEONE LOOK BAD WHEN THEY SEE A BAD TAKE! IF YOU THINK THEY'RE WRONG TRY TO HAVE A COMPASSIONATE CONVO AND EXPLAIN WHY YOU THINK A CERTAIN WAY!!
Every rust project has to build a billion dependencies....did we not learn anything from nodejs???
this is wierd like go people just refuse to use any dependencies and rust/node people just use too many, why isn't there a middle ground
@enjojoyy
In R everything is a vector and it has 1 based indexing, when you put wonderful features like these in a single language...I don't have anything else to say 😂
@loftwah
lmao 🤣 this is super common in India
we used to use rocks, sticks, cricket bats, bins, barrels, iron rods, and a lot more as wickets 😅 I know what that is, yes!
Are you allowed to make podcast with your employee ? Isn't it just a meeting with extra steps ??
Anyway
@badcop_
and
@wagslane
has a very intresting convo, link in reply 👇
I have three random questions
- can a person be really good at more than one thing ?
- is it better to focus on learning one thing really well or a lot of things kinda good
- is it better learn one thing really well but also have a general awareness about a lot of things ?
@mattpocockuk
I don't want get all technical and stuff but ts is just type checked js basically a glorified linter but you know it's better than nothing 🙃
okay I installed zed and used it for like 1.5 hours I think and here's what I think (vim user since forever btw super biased🙃)
- theme works fine
- LSP works fine
- formatting works
- vim mode is mostly there (more details in reply)
- super fast as expected
Been using
@honojs
by
@yusukebe
for a project and the experience is just fantastic!! Soo many things built in, super fast and the best part, everything is just web standards 💜
Why are all the OCaml people soo nice and welcoming all the time!!! I don't like this!!
Hey js gang, we need to step up our game, we're loosing dominance!!!!!!!
Okay nothing much changed except for the date but just wanted to say thank you all for just tolerating my shit 🙃
And special thanks to
@ThePrimeagen
- for literally changing the way I think ( I want to meet you IRL someday ❤️ )
@sabine_s_
