An elderly person I know of died yesterday. They did not have covid19. The underlying cause of death was cancer. They died alone because of covid19 restrictions. This is so wrong and inhumane.

Many components in our place-names indicate fortified dwellings. For ringforts, Ráth (rath- ra-) and Lios (lis-) are earthern ones and caiseal (cashel) are stone. Dún (dun- doon-) refers to a stronghold of importance (not necessarily ring-shaped). How many can you think of?

The next day Eoghan Murphy announced something that he said would be unconstitutional only a number of weeks ago, putting a ban on rent increases and stopping all evictions for three months.

First some context… Around 350,000 people have lost their jobs and incomes this month. Lots of those people are tenants. Dublin has 3rd highest rent in Europe due to pre-existing housing crisis and this has suddenly become an unimaginable cost for many.

@susmitchellSBP I'd worry more about the people who won't be able to get a hospital bed or a ventilator because of a decade + of savage austerity
