Years ago, a high tide flooded the streets of Cork while Paddy was visiting his friend Finbarr on South Terrace. Finbarr looked the window and said to Paddy: "The floods are very bad, you'd better stay the night." "Oh thanks very much Finbarr, I'll pop home and fetch me pjamas."

Years ago during a funeral in St Patrick's Church on the Lower Glanmire Road, a priest was swinging the thurible with burning incense around the coffin. The silence of the solemn moment was broken by a young child seated down the back - ''FATHER, YOUR HANDBAG IS ON FIRE!!!''
