This ant-snatching assassin bug nymph has captured a fresh ant and after sucking its juices, the carcass will be inserted into the bottom of the corpse pile to form a meat shield. The scent from the stack of bodies allows the predator to infiltrate ant colonies.

10 interviews out of 427 applications, after what most of us would think an amazing 34 papers in postdoc. The academic dream is "only for a select few" who have more patience than passion. To put it in perspective, that's 42 weeks of just making applications (4 hr/app, 40 hr wk).
