Another go at the #Greyheadedlapwing in watercolour, really need to invest in some decent w/c paper, such a waste though when half your efforts end up in the bin ! 😖😆 It‘s gone up in price like everything😕 Have a great weekend all👍

Visiting the Farne Islands in hazmat suits as the @nationaltrust rangers explain to us why it’s been necessary to close to visitors. Rather rough crossing!!!

Glad to be back onto Coquet Island today, for my first visit of the year, but not before seeing the fantastic first for Britain, Grey-headed Lapwing found by @Gary_D_Woodburn at Low Newton. Plenty of Puffins and my first Roseate Tern of the year. Good luck to the Rosies.

Lovely to see plenty of these lovely Collared Pratincoles this afternoon, a beautiful bird and so elegant in flight, it seems almost like a cross between a wader and a tern! #birds #Spain #birdphotography

Around an hour before sunset on Holy island just across from St Cuthbert’s island (apparently known as Hobthrush Island) As the tide rises, it becomes completely separated from Holy Island #Northumberland #lindisfarne #islandlife

#Bass The update😎 Just wonderful to sit among them .The dynamics have changed. There are gaps .Solo birds wandering, some owning site. others on substantial nests Behaviour everything we expect. It's looking positive. Still a little nervous early days @SeabirdCentre

The lack of a non-breeding flock of Mute Swans at Musselburgh so far this spring is worrying. By this time, there are typically 30-50 birds at the Esk mouth. This year - none. Is this due to avian flu, pollution, disturbance or something else?

Are you planning a trip round the Farne Islands this year maybe to Longstone Lighthouse where you can land with @ShielGeorge and view where Grace Darling lived & rescued survivors from the Forfarshire shipwreck in 1838. Thanks to David Daly this weeks #photocompetition winner
