P.S. A lot of people are getting to explain why this isn’t significant because of the Houthis’ legitimacy question, which is a fair point, but it’s still significant. Among the reasons for its significance is that Israel didn’t attempt to kill their government leaders before.

You could cite Rafic Hariri as a precedent, but that was not direct targeting by a state but through a satellite.

The most significant thing about Israel’s strike on Yemen is that it’s the first instance of Israeli targeting of a head of state/government (unless Raisi was an Israeli op), and it’s the first successful elimination of a head of state government by another state in decades.

This summer, by my count, @timodc/@BulwarkOnline Podcast has had four guests going from criticism of Israel to outright slander. How many people defending Israel? Zero, even though people like @EliotACohen and Eric Edelman are affiliated with The Bulwark, both with greater.

This is what Germany does to its own citizens when they peacefully protest against Israel's Gaza genocide, while Germany simultaneously lectures the rest of the world about human rights and the rule of law. Perhaps I am naive, but I still believe a better Germany is possible.

The only difference between Republicans and Democrats is that, when Republicans don't want to do something, they tweet "thoughts and prayers," but Democrats don't because they worry that using the word "prayers" will anger their activist class.

This "Shirazi Matcha" latte made in Iran sounds amazing . Ingredients: Matcha, orange blossom syrup, vermicelli noodles. (The price tag is insane, though).

Few things:. 1) Antonin Scalia was a great Supreme Court Justice and a genuinely kind and decent person. 2) The President's EO is consistent with Texas v. Johnson. 3) Texas v. Johnson was wrong and William Rehnquist was right.

Why do we never get Tom Sowell as a DEI appointment? Could it be that DEI is just a cover for "committed left-wing?".

While Lisa Cook was a terrible DEI appointment, if courts fail in favor of the President & he can fire her, he could fire the entire Fed. board. This would set the stage for full presidential control over monetary policy and money printing. America becomes Argentina 2.0.

This is Artesh. Would be very interesting if IRGC does it too. So far, it looks like the old dual game of "nationalism/people gets this institution and Islam/the regime gets the other.".

This is the third video evoking “Oh Iran,” the de facto national anthem since the June ceasefire—this time filmed in Tehran’s Valiasr Square. The same song was sung by protesters in Shiraz demonstrating against water and electricity shortages.
