And there we have it! Vision impairment added as a modifiable risk factor for dementia. I have so many thoughts about this but a key one is the current, widespread rationing of cataract surgery in countries across the world and how this could perpetuate dementia risk... #AAIC24

I'm seeing a few people asking how vision loss is a "modifiable" risk factor for dementia. Poor eyesight is not "getting old" - 90% of vision loss worldwide is preventable or treatable through access to regular eye tests and hospital eye care. Older people have a right to sight!!
