Thoughts:. 1. If you hire Goofy as AD, don’t get mad when Goofy does goofy s#%*. 2. Ban is not for this one incident. Cadets on probation for past violations. 3. Athletes should now be able to transfer freely. 4. Didn’t have La Salle death penalty before CBA on my Bingo card.
BREAKING: Per sources, Section 2 has approved a year-long postseason ban for all of the La Salle Institute's athletic offerings, through 2025-26, due to its baseball team violating NYS eligibility rules. Story via @TroyRecordSport .

This act does not nullify the rest of history, but it now becomes the first sentence in his biography. In the end, the consequences are well deserved. I agree with most, that we’d have a major problem if it were my daughter. I also hope I’m not judged on my worst day.

So, the question is, does this act nullify the success Zullo enjoyed through the 80’s and 90’s?. His recent revitalization at Northville?. The thousands of lives he’s helped influence by developing and encouraging young coaches that literally span Section 2 and the country?.

I’m willing to bet that most players that competed pre-2000’s (pre-cell phones and social media) were much less surprised than the younger generation, or non-athletes. Honestly, this was (in part) what coaching WAS. Many longtime coaches have been self aware enough to walk away.

I’ll admit, the first time I saw this video, I thought two things:. 1. “Oh %*#+, you can’t do that.”. - a brief moment -. 2. I’m not that surprised. So, you can say #2 is part, “if you know Coach Zullo” the stoic, oft intimidating presence on the sideline, and part age.

For this conversation, we will not discuss what a player may, or may not, have done. Players are kids and kids do stupid things sometimes. That doesn’t absolve the subsequent actions of adults. Any attempt to “accuse” a player is inappropriate and clouds the primary issue.

More proof. Get this right @NYSPHSAA. Make the championships mean something.
NYSPHSAA’s decision to expand to 6 classes has significantly reduced the number of games needed to win a sectional title. In Section 9, AAA Champions needed 1 game, AA - 2 games, A - 3 games, B - 2 games, C -1 game, D - 1 game.We’re trending toward participation trophy numbers.

PREACH! You have to win 4-5 games to win a Sectional title. These titles mean less, unfortunately. Money is too good though.
It's time to have a serious conversation about this. It's not just a Section 9 issue. Class AAA is razor-thin or non-existent in too many sections.
