The movie Starship Troopers is a parody of the book Starship Troopers, clearly lampooning the source material. That is inherently hilarious, and this movie does it brilliantly.

Trying to reduce filmmaking to cinematography is some seriously low-IQ behavior.
I prefer Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel over James Gunn’s Superman. I have issues with both films & both come with flaws, but at day’s end, Cinema is a visual art form. The visuals in Man of Steel undoubtedly blow Superman out of the water, which ultimately pushes me toward Snyder.

These people talk about Geoff Johns like he’s a nothing, no-talent hack. But their greatest movie of all time is an adaptation of his work. And it’s not as good. Context matters.
@Seangunnburner @SnyderCastle There is no such thing as a "ripoff" of a comic book movie, it's called an adaptation. Justice League Origin really does feel like the skeleton for ZSJL except the movie did a better job telling a good story. Also johns work was adapted in movies like aquaman and shazam,no ripoff.

I loved the Superman movie, and I think Gunn’s creative decisions were valid. But I also fully agree with these points. Curious how hardcore Superman fans feel about this.
My Superman is a tragic figure . My Superman views Krypton as an actual loss he mourns, and that was before he went back in time and fell in love there . My Superman lost his best friend and made him his greatest foe. My Superman failed to save the parents who gave him everything

I love hearing stories like this.
My son started out loving manga and not Western comics. As he grew, he started enjoying some of the classic superhero stories, mostly Batman and X-men. But he never found a Superman story he liked, had no interest. After seeing the movie, he wants to read them all.
