My research highlighted by @usgs_climate !!
To better understand how Polar Bears may respond to warming Arctic conditions, @USGS scientists looked at #paleoclimate records to see how past polar bears were affected during the shift from the last ice age to the warmer Holocene of today. #ClimateR_D ๐ https://t.co/U5blOVQWbV

The USGS Climate program put together this fun #Fieldwork video. If you watch closely, youโll see me in the #BeringSea
USGS scientists who study environmental change lead exciting lives. Take a peek into the daily lives of those who work with the Climate Research & Development Program in our video. https://t.co/snNzbeciDM ๐๐ฌ๐ฟ๐ฝ๏ธ Learn more about their work: https://t.co/cQurR51Hiu

#FieldworkFriday!! @cairya and I with a rocking Bering Sea core!!
#Fieldwork: @USGS & @uafairbanks researchers are collecting sediment cores from shallow parts of the Bering Sea to reconstruct past #BeringLandBridge vegetation & sea ice and primary productivity as the ice age receded ~8,000-13,000 years ago. #ClimateR_Dย @NSF

Headed to Nome tomorrow before going out to sea for a month taking sediment cores to see what the landscape of the #BeringLandBridge was like. If youโd like to follow our journey, sign up for our WhatsApp Community: https://t.co/4ZS7ooawJ7

These folks became dear friends and life-long colleagues (also, 2 months is a long time for me to not get a hair cut...) (3/4)

On the eve (well T-10 days) of my next Bering Sea coring trip, I'm feeling gutted about @JRSO_IODP ending. Here are some throwbacks to Exp 323 in the Bering Sea, 2009. (1/n)

Listening to the recording of this meeting now. Not sure if itโs better or worse to watch the demise of #IODP in 25 min chunks on the train, but at least I get to give myself breaks to release the rage in between watch sessions. Also Peggy Delaney is my hero.
"15-20 years eliminates people's careers" "Not seeing riserless drilling again for 15-20 years is describing shutting down an entire field of science" Peggy Delaney's comments from this morning's Town Hall meeting with @NSF are still resonating in my head #IODP

We interrupt your regularly scheduled rant about SF public transit to bring you the prototype for our Jr Ranger event in Nome later this summer. I present: Bering Land Bridge in cake ๐

I will still ride the bart. But harassing elderly women for fare evasion is not the way to either get more riders or solve the budgetary problems.

I believe fundamentally in public transit for all. I want the wealthy people on the train next to the poor people. I want the bart to be the first thing people think of when they decide how to go to SF. (6/n)

The turnstiles are inconsistent. The last time I asked the station agent for help getting my bike through she yelled at me and told me I needed to lift it over my head to use a different gate. I did and cut my hand in the process (5/n).

The last time I had a positive interaction was with the bathroom ambassador at Powell St on their first weekend working. But the number of times Iโve been yelled at or belittled by the station agents? Too numerous to count. (4/n)

Why donโt we try having @SFBART ambassadors? Empower? Encourage? the people working in the stations to interact with Bart riders. When was the last time you had a positive interaction with a BART employee??

I know #FareEvasion is a problem. This woman clearly did not jump the turnstile (2/n)

#SanFrancisco: Of all the ways we could improve the @SFBART, putting armed police officers on to give old ladies tickets for not properly scanning their clipper cards is not high on the listโฆ
