Today we are publishing 2 MANUSCRIPTS in @NatureComms .1. @NataliaPardoL discovers the role of nuclear MTHFD2 in centromere stability.2. Espinar and Garcia-Cao reveal the role of nuclear IMPDH2 in the DNA damage response. Nuclear Metabolism is on 🔥.
Metabolic enzymes are taking on unexpected "second jobs" within the nucleus, where they orchestrate critical functions like cell division and DNA repair. The discovery by @SdelciL in @NatureComms can help develop new metabolism-based cancer therapies.

3/ Importantly, our study suggests that IMPDH2 is essential for the efficient functioning of the DNA damage response, particularly in the context of triple-negative breast cancer cells. Understanding IMPDH2's regulatory role could inform treatment strategies based on PARP1i.

We are a group of about 10 people from different cultures and countries. We are part of the genome biology department at the @CRGenomica, and we aim to understand why metabolic enzymes localize to the nuclear environment and participate in specific chromatin functions.

The goal is to develop novel guidelines for patient stratification based on the subcellular localization of enzymes. Our laboratory specializes in high-throughput image analysis, subcellular proteomics, transcriptomics, genetic screening, cell and molecular biology.
