Since Seattle has abandoned the idea of police accountability, the State Legislature must take it up.
I support the bill Senator Mark Solomon introduced last year to curb police union negotiating power. We should also start a statewide fund so cities can create 911 alternatives.
New Seattle police contract just posted. This contract is retroactive through 2023 and includes a 23 percent pay increase without notably increasing accountability.

Whenever the University of Washington Palestine encampment puts down roots on campus, our campaign will be there in solidarity.
Washington must join the local governments and labor unions that have called for an end to violence in Gaza.
Here are 4 actions our state can take.
It was just announced via Instagram that the encampment scheduled to happen at UW has been “postponed” for several days.
UW’s Progressive Student Union (PSU) originally planned to host a pro-Palestine encampment on the quad beginning tomorrow morning (4/25) at 8 a.m.

Washington already has programs for a state land bank and apartments for disabled renters. Let’s build on those by taxing the rich for more.
