Nature - Around the world, people with the disease are marginalized. Now, patients are finding a voice to push back and demand an end to discrimination and isolation.
Absolutely delighted to have been Highly Commended for Feature of the Year at this year's #MJAAwards. Many congratulations to the winner @amymaxmen for her excellent article on inequality and health, a must-read.

"This waste water contains the whispered biochemical confessions of millions of people..." 🧵 about the latest New Scientist feature article by our Principal Trainer @ClaireAinsworth 👇
The stuff we flush down our toilet contains a treasure trove of information about our health and lifestyle. The secrets of our sewers are currently helping prevent the spread of polio and monkeypox, but what else can it reveal about our lives?

Some useful data in Ofcom's annual news consumer survey for anyone planning UK public engagement involving traditional media outlets, esp for reaching specific age groups 👇
Newspaper brands' digital offerings have not grown fast enough to offset the decline of print. Among people aged over 16, the combined print and online reach of newspaper brands fell to 38%, compared to 47% two years ago and 51% in 2018 https://t.co/fdvZLaKHdO

Check out this great discussion. One barrier to #ImLeavingAcademia, in my experience, is that it's stigmatised as "dropping out" or "failing" by other academics. Which is utter nonsense. We need skilled scientists in all walks of life.
