And what turns people "YIMBY"? It's the lust for other people's property. (YIMBYS don't actually own backyards, they want to force people to build on them).

If by "forcing people to build on them" you mean "forcing cities to allow people to build on their own yards if they want to" then okay

Iโm a YIMBY. I own property. And a backyard. We need 10X more housing. For my kids, the community, the state, the economy.
The future prosperity of our country can (and might??) be destroyed by NIMBYs.

Personally, I list for the efficiency created by markets.
I don't want to force others to build on their land, I want to give them the freedom to.
It's Nimbys that want to dictate what their neighbours do with their land.

It means when someone builds an ADU for his family, and you saunter him to tell him to stop, he can kick you off his property or have you arrested for trespassing

Deleted previous snarky reply. In case you didn't know, it's NIMBYs who want to tell other people what they can build on their own property, and YIMBYs want to make it so other people can build what they want. Not force involved.

We want to allow people to build on their backyards. You apparently want to force them not to. Who's lusting after others' property rights?

Are property rights the ability to build on your own property or the ability to tell your neighbors not to build on their property?

But anyway, I own a house with a backyard and Iโm a YIMBY because I think it would be great for CA not to have an insane housing affordability crisis. Itโs bad for the state that people are being driven away because they canโt afford to live here.
@SaveMarinwood
@cafedujord
You do understand that "backyard" is a metaphorical term here, and that the entirety of your neighborhood is not "your backyard" nor owned by you, right?
@SaveMarinwood
@cafedujord
What thing has any yimby anywhere ever proposed that would force a property owner to build in their back yard? Pushing back on rules that force them *not* to doesn't count
@SaveMarinwood
@cafedujord
INCORRECT ANSWER.
YIMBYs tend to want to let people develop their property as they wish.
If people want a backyard, then they can have it.
If they don't, then that's cool, too.
