The Communities Minister says he's exploring options for a realistic alternative to the stalled Tribeca scheme. Since announced, it has made little progress and earlier this year it emerged some applications linked to the scheme had been withdrawn. Brendan Hughes has more.

Taking this heritage asset into public ownership is brilliant news to be strongly welcomed. It is one of the oldest buildings in Belfast, dating to 1769 and the scene of some of Belfast's most iconic social history. It was subsequently remodelled by Charles Lanyon in 1845 for the

The Assembly Rooms is now in public ownership. The deal with Project Goat/Castlebrooke also includes buildings on North Street and the grade B1 listed Braddell’s Building.
Belfast City Council has now signed off on the contract and owns the Assembly Rooms. Phase one completed. As Greens we will continue to push for the regeneration of the rest of the area.

I welcome news that sale of the Assembly Rooms to Belfast City Council has completed. But that has to be the beginning not the end of work to reverse decades-long decay of that part of the city. Developers have been allowed to let a the site full of potential languish.. (1/2)

A momentous day for built heritage in the Cathedral Quarter. Still a long way to go, but we're taking a minute to celebrate this milestone and thank everyone who made it happen 👏

"Community need over developer greed." @Briansmyth99 lays out his hopes for the future of the Tribeca Belfast site, as the Assembly Rooms is set to come under the control of Belfast City Council.
Belfast city centre is at a crossroads. Will community need beat developer greed? We say yes. Time for overdose prevention, safer streets, and real public transport - not empty promises or empty buildings. A greener, fairer Belfast starts now. #BelfastCityCentre #GreenPartyNI

Found a few antique postcards yesterday. ‘That was then this is now’. We’ve lost so much of our built heritage we need to protect what we have. @SaveCQBelfast
