So, 50% of people killed by the police are disabled. Yes, a stroke is a disabling medical event, and this is further proof of law enforcement’s exceptional cruelty towards Black disabled bodies.

A lawsuit alleges a Black postal worker died after officers ignored clear signs he was suffering from a massive stroke, believing his medical emergency was drugs The suit says guards left him helpless on a jail cell floor in his own urine for hours

People think there are checks & balances to prevent discrimination in the workplace and school settings. Or that there's rock-hard legislation to hold them to if discrimination were to occur. They get away with it daily. The loopholes used to dodge/weave both are mindboggling.

This goes for school too. Post secondary education for a disabled person when the use of accommodations is weaponized and the accommodations are never met is hell on earth. They want disabled people gone rather than to accommodate.

So if it's hard for a person without a disability to get a job From youth, to out of post secondary, to full resume, Getting one for a disabled person that requires accommodations to do the job is almost impossible.

This is what people don't understand. To hire a disabled person requires accommodating their disability. Instead of being legally obligated (but never actually enforced) to do that, they prefer to bypass it all together and not have the disabled person working with them at all.

Imagine being a disabled person trying to compete in this market. Employers don’t like hiring disabled people to begin with.

So in past five years, as governments worked urgently to respond to the growing homelessness crisis, even given all the folks they housed in their new housing the number of folks who need it increased by 18,000. Here's 40 more units. Isn't it embarrassing to be seen to be failing

When it's not schools days, When it's not those meals in particular, The government leaves these children to starve, like their parents. But go ahead and applaud the government for selectively feeding those they want to continue to live while slowly killing off their families.

Instead of fixing the Canada Disability Benefit as per the UN CRPD's request, Mark Carney decided to roll it out with all of the violations intact. Now Carney is trying to suppress disabled voices speaking out about this violation through disinformation https://t.co/YVpzWSMg9v

Carney spreading the lie about CDB being automatic after taxes inspired others to post about it being automatic like other federal programs. This buries reality UN CRPD stated clearly: Canada Disability Benefit is woefully inadequate with barriers, creating unequal coverage.

The. Canada. Disability. Benefit. Is. Not. Automatic. After. Taxes. It requires both a federal DTC approval and a CDB application approval. Stop pretending this human rights violation dubbed CDB (already noted by the UN CRPD) complies with our rights when it doesn't.

For the Canadian government and media alike to lead on the public that this auto-tax filing will grant access to the Canada Disability Benefit for low-income people in need of support – they are telling a bold-faced lie. You are in the parking lot, not the destination.

Filing taxes isn't the only barrier for the Canada Disability Benefit. The requirement of a DTC, applied for via a medical practitioner (whose fee the patient has to pay out of pocket for the "service") is the main barrier. Then a CDB application on top for means-testing.

The national food program is a reminder the federal government intentionally doesn't give those in need who rely on supports enough to survive on. A person cannot afford 3 meals a day on any supports given. So the government supplements 1 meal...for children...on school days...

"Parents with means" are still ableist PoS BTW. Most won't get the proper resources at all due to that alone.

If ableists continue to call the education of disabled students "special education" – the system will continue to treat it as something additional & not necessary. It becomes moreso a privilege than a right. That's where we are now. People don't actually care about disability.

NEWS: Raising the cap on class sizes for Special Education Classes by Ford will hurt our most vulnerable children and drive parents with means to private options - this is a privatization move. Shameful!

In addition, that "proposal" in Budget 2024 about DTC form funding was exactly that – a proposal. In the publicly released responses to public questions on the CDB, they reiterated that this proposal was not added to the final regulations.

What was not included: On the final regulations page of the Canada Disability Benefit, the Federal government answered why the DTC form funding from Budget 2024 didn't come to fruition: (Was only a "proposal" – gov decided not to put it in final regs) https://t.co/SoLTskiYX8

Your assumptions are correct. The Federal gov gave $ to disability orgs to then tell us to go pay for a doctor to fill out the DTC forms. Evidence

@nejsnave @PattyHajdu @InclusionCA No, just what I assume. I figure the money went somewhere and I haven't seen any evidence it went to the cost of the forms.

The longer Canada ignores that the UN CRPD called to repeal MAID Track 2, the more disabled people will die. That's the goal – so they do nothing. Same with the UN CRPD calling out the Canada Disability Benefit being legislated destitution with multiple barriers.
