Joy Reid forever changed my life! Disabled voices are rarely heard in politics. I emailed her show on a whim. To my surprise, they invited me (a nobody) to speak out about ableism by politicians. She took a chance on me when no one else would. She deserved better from MSNBC.
Wow. Rachel Maddow called out her network for four minutes tonight, noting not just how special Joy Reid is but also how MSNBC is cutting 2 anchors of color & hurting the people who make all the shows possible. This is courage. A true class act.

Ableism and toxic masculinity are one hell of a drug. I’m disabled. I do find it interesting how some aging public figures (mainly men) would rather have dangerous falls than use much-needed mobility devices like wheelchairs, as if it makes them less of a man or a leader.
